Reina Ballet Flats ~ TOMS

Oh how we adore the new Reina ballet flat from TOMS. These fabulous slippers have a slight wedge for a little bit of extra support and extra cushion in the heel for those long days. As with all TOMS, you buy a pair and one is given to a child in need. It runs a bit large so order a half size down. Pick yours up at Nordstrom for $79.

Tory Burch + FEED ~ Holt Renfrew

When a great fashion mind like Tory Burch and a fabulous foundation such as FEED collaborate the end result can only be brilliant. That is exactly what happened with the limited-edition FEED tote being sold exclusively at Holt Renfrew locations in Canada. The classic burlap that FEED is known for (think Whole Foods shopping bag) mixed with Tory Burch’s unique and bold color combinations and you have a chic bag that is putting money towards great causes like ending hunger.

A portion of the sales proceeds of the bag help to reach a goal of $100,000 for the FEED Foundation and the Tory Burch Foundation. What this really means is approximately 500,000 meals for hungry children worldwide. For the Tory Burch Foundation is means $50,000 towards empowering women through micro finance and mentoring providing a brighter future.

My generous friend brought mine over the border to the north so I could be a part of the efforts.  I love wearing mine across my torso to show off the strap’s spectacular bold colors. It is large enough to fit my MacBook Air and other items I need on-the-go, with room to spare.  The bag retails for an inexpensive $50 and can be bought in Canada at Holt Renfrew.

A Ring to Educate a Child in Haiti ~ Vhernier

We think the world of this exquisite ring made for the children in Haiti by the Italian fine jeweler, Vhernier.  The limited edition ring supports efforts to educate the children of St. Luc Street Schools and the Academy for Peace and Justice in Haiti. Each ring sold will provide one child with an entire year of high quality education.

Vhernier only created  1,000 of these exclusive rings made of silver and sheathed in rose gold.  The inside is engraved with “Vhernier for Kids Haiti”  and is sold at Vhernier boutiques for $1,370.00 USD.  For each ring purchased from Vhernier, they will pledge 100% of the proceeds (about $600 USD) to Artists for Peace and Justice Fund which equals the funds needed to educate one child for one year at the St. Luc Schools and the Academy for Peace and Justice.  The Pirouette rings support social responsibility as well as  promote great artists and are available at Vhernier boutiques or by contacting apjhaiti@vhernier.com.

Celebrate Each Moment ~ BeTrulyYou.com

In an effort to drink more water I realized I was in need of a larger water bottle for my desk than my beloved Lifefactory bottle.   I stumbled across the Be Truly You bottle in the window of a yoga studio and grabbed it.  Be Truly You makes retro-style and urban styled sustainable, reusable, 100% recyclable glass water bottles.  As I am sure all of you know a reuseable ecofriendly container is a million times better than the disposable plastic water bottles—whose cost and environmental impact from production, distribution and disposal is incredible.  Personally, I am not a big fan of the reusable plastic and metal water bottles for the taste and the possible terrifying chemicals that leach out of re-usable plastic and metal water bottles into the water I am consuming.  While my bottle honestly isn’t much different from a large Voss bottle, it does hold enough water to keep me hydrated, the opening fits ice cubes, and comes with a message reminding me to  “celebrate each moment”.

Beyond the great bottle, the company has a standard of  operations that makes conscious choices daily that reflect a commitment to their community and  reduce their impact on the environment by patronizing local suppliers as often as possible to using environmentally friendly packaging materials.  If you are in need they start at $18 and can be ordered online at BeTrulyYou.

Stella’s Shorts ~ Spring 2012

I am in love with these Stella McCartney shorts.  The color blocking is fabulous and all the rage this season.  I can just visualize it with an amazing wedge, a lightweight tee  or loose button-up.  All I need now is for the sun to come out here in Seattle to complete the look.  While the price is definitely on the expensive side of the for shorts, priced at $825, they are adorable, we love the ecofriendly Stella McCartney, and if you can afford them then go for it.  Of course, only after you’ve made large donations to several charities.
